Why blog?

Well, you might ask: why does a pussy cat blog? And then me, being a pussy cat, would ask you: why do people blog? At least people can communicate their thoughts by talking, but I can’t speak! That does not mean I am dumb, I would argue the contrary. My lady servant and man servant probably think I am some lazy slob laying about all day, but little do they realise I am listening to their conversations, tuned in when they listen to the radio, and watching the same television they watch.

While people think I might be lazily snoozing in some comfortable position, I am actually considering the great mysteries of life (and death, for that matter).

I am a pretty bright, switched on pussy cat, and you would be surprised of my deliberations and opinions regarding the big questions that face humanity (and cats), like “why do humans blog”, “when will I get sardines again”, “why do people kill other people and not eat them”, etc.

By soaking up the world around me and processing all this information, I have come to conclusions about some issues that face all of us, that might surprise most of you.

I can see some of you are a bit sceptical, so I’ll try to explain my point using some humans to illustrate.

Who do you think of when asked to give some examples of ground-breaking people, people with ideas that can change the face of humanity forever, people who are in touch with the essential ingredients of what makes a human being, people who understand the challenges of our existence?

You probably think of people like Stephen Hawking, Nelson Mandela, or Archimedes, just to name a few. What makes these people so bright and smart, what do these people have in common? The answer is simple: just like me, they consider and process, while they seem to be idle in the eyes of most: Stephen sits in his wheelchair all the time, Nelson spent over twenty years in prison, and Archimedes just floated in his bath looking for his soap.

Now, contrast that for example with the mental capabilities of somebody else you all know: somebody who is always on the go, walking his dog, playing golf, or flying from one meeting to another: George Bush. I rest my case.

Well, I hope that explained why I blog. Why do you blog?
